My girlfriends and I visited the French Market Cafe on a Sunday afternoon for afternoon tea, and we had such a wonderful experience. One thing to note is that the space is quite small, so I highly recommend making reservations in advance, especially for afternoon tea and large groups. The tea selection was excellent with a great variety to choose from. You can tell they use quality loose-leaf teas rather than inexpensive tea bags, which really elevated the experience. The assortment of sandwiches, pastries, and desserts was also delicious, and everything was beautifully presented. Overall, it was a lovely afternoon with great food, great tea, and a welcoming atmosphere. I all had a fantastic time and will definitely be returning!

5/6/2026 My sister took me, my mom, daughter, and close friend here for Mother's Day. All of us just fell in love with this place. This is a very quaint, quiet, gem of a little cafe hidden in a strip mall in Cornelius NC. It was so cute. The food was incredible. The different flavors of scones with the lemon curd, raspberry jam, and home made cream were absolutely delicious. The best we have ever had. Then came the finger sandwiches. The chicken salad was soooo good. The green olive and cream cheese I totally loved. Then the strawberry, and then the turkey with apple and brie cheese were great. All of the sandwiches were just wonderful. Then came the savory appetizers. Little quiche, pimento cheese stuffed pastry and many others So good. Then came the desserts, they were so tasty. The corn chowder was to die for. I could have just had that and a scone been satisfied. Our server/owner Kathy was fantastic. So kind and took great care of us. This review is about the tea service experience! Not the cafe side of their business so keep them separate please :) The ambiance was charming, and it was nice meeting the owners — there’s a lot of warmth in the space. Unfortunately, the tea service itself was disappointing, especially for the price point. I was initially served only the sandwiches and desserts, with no explanation of the savory selections until I flagged down our server again. Shortly after, she had to leave and service was passed to the chef. The garden salad I ordered didn’t arrive until nearly an hour later, which disrupted the pacing of the meal. The savory offerings were underwhelming: two small chicken nuggets and a tortilla filled with cream cheese and topped with raspberry jam. The tea sandwiches were also unbalanced — the chicken salad was overly sweet, and the cucumber sandwich very salty due to the addition of olives. Portion sizes were fair, but the flavors missed the mark. Plus you have to choose the sandwich flavors while booking your reservation. You don’t get an assortment like other tea services. On January 9, 2025, I had the pleasure of visiting this delightful café. The service was exceptional, and I truly appreciated the inviting ambiance. However, I did have a minor concern; my quiche was slightly overcooked. Nonetheless, the staff were extremely friendly and ensured that we felt right at home.

Very pretty and cute place. Our waitress was excellent. Because the room was a bit small, they could not accommodate us with the baby chair. And we were not allowed to bring in our car seat. So, If you want to visit with kids, be aware. The food was good, but the fruit were not fresh. Will I come back ? Not until my baby can sit on a grown up chair
